Please follow through this time with listing the P. mcallii as a federally protected species. Of the 8 unique species native to the US, the P. mcallii is most threatened with extinction within this century. As a reptile, it will take much longer to rebound to stable wild population than other class of animal. Prevention must be started sooner than would be for bird, mammal, or fish due to low clutch survival rates to breeding maturity, and these prey animals have many predators, as well as risk factors from human activities.
