Based off the information and data collected on the San Bernardino Flying Squirrel there should be extensive research done to confirm the actual living habitat is endangered which puts this certain species at risk. The data showed that this species does have the means to survive and reproduce without limitations. There are confirmed witnesses that can identify the species as being active in the current habitat as well as the neighboring area. The flying squirrel still contributes to its role in maintaining forest health. The longevity of the flying squirrel is positive and allows for the species to reproduce and flourish. The forest is still abundant which provides cover, protection, and living space for the flying squirrel. The biggest problem that may come into question is air pollution, but no research has been found as to whether air pollution is the result of this species having low numbers in certain areas of California. The government is also taking steps to help with air pollution and making sure that companies and corporations are in compliance with these regulations. Air pollution does not just affect the San Bernardino Flying Squirrel but all species in the habitat including humans. There has to be a lot more research done to justify why this species is considered endangered and primary cause to what is causing the species to be endangered. All species deal with habitat modification and climate change, and therefore I see no reason to add the San Bernardino Flying Squirrel to the endangered and threatened wildlife and plants.
