To Whom it May Concern, Your Draft Environmental Assessment for the Proposed Modifications to Regulations Implementing Interagency Cooperation Under the Endangered Species Act (published at 73 Fed. Reg. 47868, Aug. 15, 2008 is a sordid example of ideologically-based, political wordsmithing and cynicism that has nothing to do with endangered species, their ever-dwindling habitat and the intent of the Endangered Species Act. I oppose the proposed rule change. I guess I was under a wrong impression that Environmental Assessments should have SOME science in them! Maybe even some "costs" and "benefits" at least imagined? I see no hypotheses, no testing, no evaluation of data and no conclusions based upon anything remotely related to scientific inquiry. Oh, yes, the Bush Administration doesn't "believe" in science, I forgot! Why should I even look for science in its own self-serving rules change being promulgated at "midnight" of a disastrous Administration. All I see in this so- called "assessment" is declarative rubbish and assumptions that governmental actions will never have any negative impact at all on any part of our environment! This "midnight" rules change proposed by the Bush minions and lawyers is more than mischievous; it is an attempt to gut the intent of the ESA law, a law which is supported by a majority of Americans. Your writers have checked their moral compass at the door. They have no regard for the interconnectedness of all species on earth. They glory in mental gymnastics and their convoluted arguments with the only regard for consequences being political... and their own careers, out of government, thankfully.... Finally, I object to the "stacked deck"-- that you all will approve this proposed change to ESA no matter what any of us say. Thank you, Sharron Sell
