Based on the avaialble data, its imperative that that the three Macaw species (hyacinth, scarlet and green macaw) be placed on the endangered list and the Act’s protections applied to all members of these species. We need to act now in an effort to protect these animals and ultimately reverse the unfavorable trends the species face as a result of habitat loss and the effects of other potential threat factors, including live capture, hunting, trade and diseases affecting the birds.
