SNAKE BREEDERS from ALL OVER THE NATION including Northern states are infecting Southern States with this vermin. They sell baby pythons which eventually grow to sizes 250 + pounds via UPS, and other overnight delivery means, Craigslist, other INTERNET sources, and ship them all over this nation. Vermin Dangerous to the ecosystem: http://dotearth.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/10/13/giant-snakes-pose-high-risk-to-us-ecosystems/ QUOTE: "In the news release, Robert Reed, a survey herpetologist and author of the report, said: “These giant snakes threaten to destabilize some of our most precious ecosystems and parks, primarily through predation on vulnerable native species.”...Mr. Snow opened the lid to a freezer in his laboratory that contained plastic bags full of the stomach contents from the small fraction of pythons they had been able to catch. Here’s how he described what they had collected: We’ve found everything, from very small mammals — native cotton mice, native cotton rats, rabbits, squirrels, possums, raccoons, even a bobcat, most recently the hooves of a deer,” Mr. Snow said. “Wading birds and water birds, pied-billed grebes, coots, egrets, limpkins and at least one big alligator." UNQUOTE MONSTROUS SNAKES DESTROY OUR ENVIRONMENT AND COSTS BILLIONS TO CONTROL: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/unleashed/2010/01/federal-officials-move-to-ban-imports-of-nine-species-of-constrictor-snake.html "In 2009, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Inspectors at Kennedy handled more than 27,000 wildlife shipments valued at more than $1 billion, or 16% of all U.S. wildlife imports. Last year, 54,000 live reptiles entered through the New York airport. The proposed ban covers nine species of giant constrictor snakes including the Burmese, North African and South African pythons, the boa constrictor, and the anaconda - green, yellow and Bolivian..About 1 million such snakes have been imported in the last 30 years and more have been bred domestically
