Dear ladies and gentlemen,
this is to inform you that Bristol Zoo Gardens, together with a number of US,
South African and international partners, is currently establishing a conservation
research project for the African penguin (Spheniscus demersus). This project aims
to investigate the factors that lead to breeding site fidelity in the species in order
to ultimately establish a methodology for creating new penguin colonies in places
closer to the species' main food resources.
Please find more information in the attached document, which is due to be
published in EAZA News (newsletter of the European Association of Zoos and
Aquaria) in early 2009.
Best regards,
Christoph Schwitzer
