It is of our best interest to support the “downlisting” of the specie Yacare Overo
(Caiman Latirostris) from the ESA (U.S. Endangered Species Act).
U.S. Market is interested in products made of Caiman Latirostris skins.
Argentina’s Exporters, Tanneries, Footware, Bags and Accesories Industries and
Designers that use this skins are not able to reach U.S. buyers as the specie
appears in the ESA
Argentina’s Caiman Latirostris Population is included in CITES Apendix II due to
successfull local ranching programs that serve to conserve and build the number
of
specimens while protecting the environment and provide income to over 1000
families that earn their livings in activities directly or indirectly-related to these
undertakings.
We are hopeful that Caiman Latirostris will be "downlisted" from U.S. Endangered
Species Act.
Sincerely,
Andres Trachter
