These birds have absolutely infested coastal ecosystems; they have no natural predators and consume mind-boggling amounts of juvenile and adult finfish of many different species. Cormorants MUST be managed sensibly so as to restore the sensitive balance of marine environments. Their numbers have clearly exploded and their predatory impact cannot be overstated. Even in overcrowded harbors they number in the many thousands, more and more each year. They are ravenous predators that eat vast quantities of baitfish and juvenile gamefish (many species of which are strictly managed). Please don't let this important management opportunity pass by. PLEASE help control the Cormorant plague; many fragile species like river herring, winter flounder, striped bass and so many others depend upon the right management decision at this crucial moment.
