It's important that we continue to have the right to market cattle through US Premium Beef where quality cattle gets a premium and is worth raising for the benefit of the end consumer. As a rancher I wouldn't see the point in keeping a high quality cattle herd if there are no premiums for it, to sell them on a live basis where all cattle are equals would cause the entire US cattle herd to have a significant decrease in quality and very soon we would no longer be seen as the no. 1 producer of quality beef in the world. Is this where our government wants to take us?
