The Mentor-Protégé, should be monitored by the GSA .Most programs aren't
monitored. Being a start up and a true small business I find that the
companies with these programs that are funded by the government. The prime
contractors get to pick the companies that they want and they are normally
in the top 100 government contractors list. The program should be set up
with the small business in mind and this growth .They normally want to
team with companies that are well established in the field. The Programs
are missed used because of lack of monitoring. There should be an
enrollment of the companies with GSA and investigation of these companies
before they can be in the Mentor-Protégé program. There should be a
meeting of small businesses that are interested in the program and have
them register at the GSA office and be interviewed by the GSA
representative to help the small business get a chance at the
opportunities that the established businesses get. The representative
should team the small business with the prime and monitor the progress of
the arrangement .
