The regulation is very hard to understand, in terms of changes. It is important to have genetic information NOT be used by insurers to base their insurance premiums. However, this ability for insurers to limit based on pre existing conditions continues to punish the sick who are losing their insurance every week. In our Cook County health system, every week I see new patients who are trying to get into our overcrowded system to get care due to loss of their insurance. Hopefully health care reform will include this, and perhaps this will decrease some of the 'cost' of informing the insured, because all will get the same benefits and rights.
