The first amendment to the Constitution states, "Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion." Allowing companies to restrict
healthcare to a person based on a religious opinion does respect religions,
while disrespecting basic human rights and equality. This legislation gives
companies the "freedom" to restrict vital services to a marginalized group of
people- the lesbian, gay, and bisexual community. Which is more necessary when
determining a law in the United States of America-- one doctor having personal
philosophical concerns treating one particular patient, or the loss of physical
health in an American citizen due to discriminatory practices? In the name of
liberty and progression, and our country's ideals, please prevent this
legislation from being passed.
