Additionally to my previous comments: Consumers will benefit from the ability to choose the type of provider that they prefer. I believe that provider discrimination is not only wrong in principle, but it is anti competitive in nature. It limits or even denies patient choice and access to a range of beneficial providers, and in general, results in a less efficient and and less cost effective delivery system. Additionally, ensuring that providers are not discriminated against would encourage the placement and location of a wide range of skilled health care professionals in areas currently without sufficient numbers of health providers to adequately serve the public.
