Re: EP Core Measure 10 We are a smalll urology specialty group and we are concerned that our demographic may make the "10% actually accessing" their records on line difficult. Of our 14,773 total active patients at present; 44% or 6518 are over the age of 65. Many just don't feel comfortable trusting their private healthcare issues to a website. The still walk into their credit unions or banks to do business and they still snail mail their bills to the electric company. Some could go to the library but we're back to the trust issue. In South Bend, Indidna in our current economic environment computers for personal luse come after rent, meds, and food for those over 65. I doubt we could get 10% (1477) of our patients to sit down even with us helping them to access their records. We are very concerned about this threshold. A prudent alternative might be to have initially a 5% threshold for those practices which have more than 30% of their total patient demographic over the age of 65. As more of the baby-boomers hit 65 we're sure to see increased utilization of EHR; but at this point, it's going to be difficult, if not impossible, for us to hit 10%.
