Question 2, page 26 RFI
I do not support the creation of a nationwide health information network, or placement of my data into a network without my informed consent. Such an action would violate my 4th, and 5th amendment privacy rights. im a nurse, and fully respect my patients privacy. I also fully support the HIPAA Privacy Act. This i believe is needed, but the NwHIN is not.
Question 27, page 42 RFI
Where do we draw the line on privacy? It is here with the NwHIN. If this is created despite my objections, I would support an opt-in approach. I support opt-in consent requirements for both the placement of my data in the NwHIN and exchange of my data. I oppose the 3 exceptions to consent on page 41. There should be no exchange, no storage, and no use of my medical records without my informed consent. We in the medical field have to get consent for everything we do, except in emergency situations. Thank You
