The concept of medical entities creating separate "companies" to hire anesthesiologists and share in the income of their services has many issues. It inserts corporate profit making decsion making into the doctor-patient relationship. It creates great conflicts of interest with surgeons who may be part of the goverance of the controlling entity that might direct "cost effective" care or plans to help bolster profits of the entity. It may also violate state regulations that prohibit the corporate practive of medicine (e.g. Texas). Expansion and/or creation of the these should be discouraged and there should be no safe harbor becasuse they are an invitation to questionable if not fraudulent practices.
