It is my belief due to the current volatile housing market this change will have an
adverse effect on borrowers and the companies trying to help borrowers buy and or
save their current homes. The new guidelines requiring 6 months of on time
payments are too stringent of a rule at this time. This will also increase problems
for large and small companies alike in their effort to insure loans with HUD. As we
all know no one is perfect and if a borrower happens to be late one month they
along with the company insuring their loan should not be penalized by having to
wait 6 months to insure the loan. I believe this will drive some companies to turn
away from doing governments loans which would only increase the problems and
difficulties that many borrowers are facing at this time. This rule goes against the
foundation and spirit of HUDs role in the marketplace.
