Regarding Mortgage Brokers and the yield spread premium issues: Professional Mortgage Brokers for the last 30 years have protected the consumers from banking institutions and the price fixing that goes along with limitedchoice. The public have been given the freedom to choose. Yield Spread Premium, which is disclosed to consumers, allowing the customer to make informed pricing and mortgage cost decisions, allows mortgage professionals to earn a living. Historically, Brokers originated over 70% of mortgage loans, YSP is part of the disclosed conpensation to the consumer. The reason Broker are in the market is to provide quality conparision shopping, usually below what traditional financial institutions charge, which do not disclose their compensation or profit. Mortgage Brokers are the most disclosed group of mortgage professionals, taking away the ability to provide the consumer competitively priced mortgage options, by restricting the compensation by eliminating yeild spread premiums, would restrict trade and optionsfor the consumers.
Please review your stance on Yield Spread Premiums, as it would hurt the consumer by limiting choice in the market place.
