Good Morning, We have a rural housing authority that serves 2 counties. If HUD went with zip code based FMRs. We would have 11 different FMRs as now we have 2. This would add another administrative burden. Staff also has a concern on briefing the client with their search for a unit. Now the client can be told what the county FMR is in the county they want to live in. It would be very confusing to the client if they had to go by the zip code. At the briefing, they want to know the dollar amount they can use to look for a unit. The county wide FMR works well. Breaking it down further would be more burden on both the client and the agency.
