Please include smoke-free housing as a key indicator. HUD has been supportive of additional smoke-free policy adoption in Section 8 and other Federally regulated housing. At the local level, we receive so many calls from frustrated tenants who becoming ill are barely coping with a neighbor's secondhand smoke. This is far more prevalent and damaging in our community than lead poisoning or some other housing risks at this point in time. Establishing guidelines and rewards for smoke-free housing policy adoption would save many lives and truly support the goal of Safe and Healthy Homes. Thank you for your consideration.
