Am I reading this correctly whereby REIT's will be included in the 1/1/11 securities if they are not purchased in conjunction with a DRP, or do they follow the rules laid out for RIC's and have the one year delay in implementation? The regulations do not mention how long basis transactions have to be stored. Does that mean until sale or transfer, which could be 50 years after purchase. I also think that the transferred basis due to gift or inheritance is problematic because it relies on to much information outside the broker's control or knowledge.
