I am a board member with two children in a charter school. We have two failing traditional high schools in my area with only a 60% graduation rate and a high violence and drug presence. Rivermill Academy Charter has been the only thing that has kept me from selling my home and moving elsewhere. The grades are one of the highest in the states. We have no drugs or violence to speak of. My children and others are thriving. We need to keep the good teachers we have and they need to be able to participate in the traditional governmental plan. If the IRS does not approve for these teachers to remain in the plan, it will be devastating to our teachers and we will lose them. Please consider that the reason charter schools came into being is for communities like mine where traditional public school is failing. We are a poster child for how to turn it around. Please do not derail us. Thanks.
