Advances in rate of rise detection and linear heat detection could possibly detect a
heat source before CO is created providing an earlier warning of a possible trouble
condition. Some new products can provide continuous detection for 11000 feet
while being broken into 128 separate zones giving the capability of locating the
heat source within 86 feet. It is my opinion that these shuold not replace CO
detectors, but also should not be discontinued.
