I am a school bus driver in Indiana. I drive a 66 passenger Bluebird. By raising the backs of the seats it WILL make it harder for the driver of buses to keep an eye on childeren especially elementary to make sure they are in their seat the way they are suposed to be. My students are reminded daily and know that we do NOT leave the school until they are seated properly. Also by putting seat belts on all busses you will increase deaths if the bus should catch fire or serious accident where bus evacuation is mandatory. If there is a fire we have less than 2 minuites to evacuate and that is not long enough to release 66 seat belts weather they are cut off or unbuckled. School busses ARE safe if the driver MAKES the students follow direction and ENFORCES the rules and safty procedures. IT IS UP TO THE SCHOOL BUS DRIVER TO MAKE THEIR BUS SAFE. Please do not make our jobs harder by adding more equipment.
