Dear Sir or Ma'am, This is yet another colossal waste of taxpayer money. I as a motorcyclist choose to wear a helmet in a state that doesnt mandate I should. I am old enough and smart enough to understand that if i want a helmet to protect me in the event of a crash, it needs to be a REAL helmet, not a 'novelty' type one. By this agency simply changing the size/shape/position of the DOT sticker, it proves that this agency is incapable of self-control. This sounds like nothing more than either busy- body work to prove this agencies needs for more funding, or lobbyists for the helmet industry simply trying to drum up business for new helmets. If I choose to buy and wear a novelty helmet, there isnt a government rule that will make me stop. Until you can MANDATE safer driving/riding by the public, simply slapping an 'aproved' helmet on everyones head does no good. Getting vehicle drivers to be more aware of motorcyclists, and getting better training for the motorcyclists is the REAL ANSWER to the question of lowering the death rate for motorcycle crashes. Simply: Fewer crashes mean fewer deaths. Sincerely, Gaylon Pewe
