As a parent I entrust my children just like thousands of other parents to be transported by the school bus system. Until this proposal I did not realize the dangers in the evacuation capabilities or lack there of. My concern has always been with the lack of physical restraints. I would like a better answer as to why seat belts are not installed in school buses? But beyond that I have a comment on the rear door proposal, if moving the door handle from the middle to the far side is easer for the first responders I highly agree with it's purposed move. But I would also like to suggest installing in the door a removable/breakable window in the door that would be large enough to crawl throw in the case that the door is stuck or jammed. I also understand the cost involved and possible danger with installing emergency windows as ever window, my I suggest installing glass shatter hammer above every window to allow the children this option if called for. I would like to thank the commission for continuing to address the safety of the transportation of our most precious asset.
