I noticed in today's paper (12/15/2012) that Ford is questioning the way EPA determines gas mileage of Hybrids, etc. I own a 2009 Toyota Prius and I can confirm that the way the vehicle is driven determines its mileage (miles/gallon). With commute traffic varying between 35-60 mph, I get about 55 mpg on a 60 mile trip. Otherwise, it averages about 46-50 mpg overall on any given tank of gas. I would recommend that the EPA changes the way it determines gas mileage to conform with Consumer Reports methods as they seem to be much closer to what the actual miles per gallon will be for the average driver. I trust Consumer Reports data, not the "Stickers" on a new car; I have found the "Stickers" MPG to be entirely bogus.
