NHTSA's proposed rule (Docket NHTSA-2011-0101-0001) regarding the reimplementaion of the blue and green color boundaries to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, should be allowed to go forth, and finalized.
The removal of the aforementioned light color boundaries were withdrawn for no apparent reason with the finalization of the final rule established on December 4th, 2007. The color boundaries are for the mixture of colors and not sole colors of lights with regard to the lighting requirements on vehicles. By reinstating the color boundaries, NHTSA will return to the original compliance at no associated cost.
With the finalization of this proposal, NHTSA will return to full compliance with the FMVSS standard 108.
