My name is Kevin DeSilva I'm a 39 year old commercial fisherman.I've been a
commercial fisherman for 21 years.Ive been going to all the bottomfishing
meetings for the last year or so.I always make comments on the kahala
situation, but nobody seems to listen.Ever since bottomfish seasoned opened up
kahalas seem to be everywhere in huge numbers.I've been catching ridiculous
amounts of kahala on every trip. The kahalas i catch are killed then thrown
back.My concern is that when the season is closed again kahalas will keep
multiplying. Its scary to think what they will do to the bottomfish
population.Because i've seen all kinds of bottom fish in their stomachs and
mouths when brought onboard.I have a few suggestions on how to control this. You
guys have to listen to the experieced fishermen, especially the ones who do it for a
living. If any cares email me at yukieds@hawaii.rr.com
