I am supporting the Seasonal Closure but will like it to stay closed for 5 months just like 2007. The reason is the State and Federal agencies did not give the rule enough time to see results. Common sense says you can not expect to see change from only one year and yet a proposal is to shorten it by a month is not wise. Has any studys been made and documented as to when the deep bottom fish are at their peak spawning cycle? I support the rule back to 5 MONTHS or An adjustable 4 Months with Egg/Sperm samples to support when to re-open. Do not have fixed closure dates because the eggs mature year to year at slightly different times of the season. There are numerous vessels that could be contracted to catch samples of bottom fish during the present closed periods in order to find out egg maturity without adding expense to DLNR for study. We fishermen follow patterns of migration from the start of the season and know where the fish move throughout the year so I can't understand the logic behind closure Areas and the naive scientists and personal that came up with that idea. They defininately have no clue what goes on down there and really makes no sense at all except to crowd fishermen into smaller areas. Aloha- Dean
