OPPOSED
Thanks for the opportunity to comment.
It is difficult to find the words to offer constructive comment on this ridiculous
proposal to further restrict the guided sport angler wishing to catch a halibut in SE
Alaska. Everyone knows that this entire operation is a ploy spearheaded by
ALFA and the various other commercial noise makers around the state. Where is
the real, scientific basis for this proposal? Now, even the ADF&G admits that
their catch data which seems to be the basis for this maneuver is fatally flawed.
Many, many more viable ideas have been presented in the past to deal with this
situation, there's no need to go into them here as NMFS knows them verbatim.
I urge those in Juneau to wake - up. There's plenty of good folks other than
commercial fishermen trying to make a living on a fish they've never owned to start
with.
