re rin 0648-aw22 sec 216.22c4 - it is not acceptable for stranded animals to be used in profiteering schemes for greed and venality and money. never is that acceptable. if they are stranded, they need help first and foremost. sec 216.22c7 -i oppose allowing bureaucratic regional administrators to authorize any import or export without full public scrutiny and comment as to its appropriateness and level of care for the animal. to allow the taking of samples from living animals is extremely stressful for thos e animals and may cause death and injury. this kind of action by bureaucrats on public payroll needs full public scrutiny and comment on these actions. we cannot trust our govt agencies to act honestly and truthfully anymore. the "potential of transmission to people of marine mammal diseases" statement is made - i am not aware of any of those potential transmission agents and would not authorize any killing under that pretense until i have full information from this agency on that kind of statement. making a statement like that when absolutely no information has been provided to the public on an area or subject like that is completely unacceptable to the public. please immediately send me any material you have on this subject so that i can comment further. i have read and seen absolutely nothing on this subject and i am sure the general public would agree to that statement. i do not believe we know about any marine mammal transmissions of diseases to people - please inform us all before we grant this agency any rights to do anything about any of this. attention sarah howlett. we have seen our govt agencies far too often taken over by gun wacko loonies, profiteers, destroyers of the environment in the last eight years or so and we do not want people working in this agency unless they have compassion for animals in their hearts. it is clear that something ugly has been going on with our govt agencies in sin city washington dc and we need to bring back sound american trustworthiness and honesty. and we need compassionate people with a heart for animal protection in on all of these decisions. somehow people who want to protect animals have been frozen out of all discussions, debates, decisions on animals due to govt bureaucracy and profiteering. this needs to be changed now. the scandal plagued us dept of commerce has an unenviable record. the benefit to the animal is foremost. the protection of the animals is foremost. sec 216.27cb needs to require the involvement of animal protection groups, not the anonymous commitee of political bureaucrats insiders who far too often profit from animal misery.
