Have lived in Fort Pierce Fl for 40 years, and have been fishing and scuba diving for
30 years. From my experience the fishing and diving have recovered greatly since
the band on commercial netting to bad you won't do anything about the
commercial dredging and draging. I personally have seen the damage done by
beach renorishment projects. Now where there was once a shallow water reef
there is nothing but sand, covered buy all of the beach renorishment projects, god
forbid we would not want the wealthys homes to fall in the water. Also when these
dredge pull the sand from a natural sea bottom they disturb the natural vegitation
and I have seen it smother a reef. I think the recreational fisherman have more
regulations then are needed now . In fact I think some need to be lifted such as
the goliath grouper there are more here now then I have ever seen in my life and
they eat everything. We have enough laws and more should not be made so that a
educated man can have a job setting behind a desk doing nothing . Everyday
more and more of my freedoms are taken away buy people who do nothing but sit
behind a desk. Leave all of our recreational fishing alone.
