Please reclassify loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta) in the western North Atlantic Ocean as a Distinct Population Segment (DPS) with endangered status. As I understand it their numbers are decreasing due to habitat disruption and drowning due to fishing. Some plants and animals become extinct as a result of natural processes. In this case though, the loggerheads are in a man made predicament and as a result should be granted at least this level of protection to increase the chances of their long-term survival. Thank you!
