i oppose turning anything in regard to any environmental matter to alaska, which is ruled by people who seem to have no regard for the environment. they want to chew it up for oil money when oil spills are in the thousands and the pollution is enormous. i find no environmental conscience for these fish that belong to all americans. the federal govt should be in charge of this species. although they are not saving species either. but alaska is worse. look at what their governor has done, killing wolves from airplanes. wanting the polar bear to go extinct. horrible.
