I wholeheartedly endorse the immediate closing of the long-line fishery until NMFS has the opportunity to draft regulations to end the excessive take of sea turtles, drafts such regulations and implements them. Anything short of such a halt and subsequent regulations, scientifically based, to reduce the by-catch to levels determined to be sufficient to improve the stock is not acceptable.
