It is shocking to contemplate the consequences of expanding the Hawaii-based shallow set
longline swordfish fishery. Imperiled leatherback and loggerhead sea turtles would suffer long-term
or possibly permanent threat to their continued survival, without a commensurate public benefit. On
the contrary, the fishery would suffer, as well, from overfishing.
Please respect the provisions of the Marina Mammal Protection Act and other applicable laws, and
retain the current restrictions.
