I am a biologist and a small business owner in Anchorage. I also fish in Cook Inlet and own property in several areas around Cook Inlet. I support the designation of Cook Inlet as Critical Habitat for the Cook Inlet Beluga whale. I believe this is necesssary to arrest the decline of this unique and valuable marine mammal. Based on my years of experience in managing State of Alaska's legislatively designated Critical Habitat Areas I do not beleive that designation of Cook Inlet as critical habitat for the beluga will have any significant impact on any current social or economic activities in the Cook Inlet region. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
