I am glad that NOAA has finally taken steps to protect critical beluga whale habitat. With just 300 cook inlet beluga whales left in the wild, this is a timely action.Time after time we have seen Alaskan government officials opposing any kind of protection given to wildlife in Alaska because they cannot make enough money. I hope one day Alaskan government officials will realize living in harmony with the last great wilderness will bring forth more happiness than what money can get them. Hopefully, eco-tourism will bring more prosper to the Alaskans when dirty fuels die out. This step is a first and giant leap towards that dream.
