I respectfully and strenuously object to this change of rules for the bluefin tuna. In effect, it relaxes regulations on a very endangered fish population. This rule change will only cause more intensive fishing and continue the decline of this stock. It is a mistake to use a current limit to attempt to increase the ability to reach such a limit, when this will only help collapse the fishery. If anything, the quota should be made more strict. We are on the precipice of a major collapse of a crucial resource. The so-called sustainability approaches taken with the announcement of this rule must be examined carefully and balanced against the continuing unsustainable limits that are clearly collapsing the fishery. Thanks for your attention.
