Concerning the bluefin tuna catch in New England. The government and ICCAT say they are trying to protect the fish but yet they let a wide open slaughter take place on juvenile fish under 73". This small fish (under 73") fishery is unregulated and not monitored properly at all. If the government says the fishery is healthy enough for a limited take on these small fish that have never spawned once that is fine but atleast close the fishery on say Sept 1 for take of fish under 73". Give the fish a chance to spawn once. I saw boat this year take small fish after small fish that never once had a chance to spawn and replace themselves in the popuilation. There are alot of small fish out there. There needs to be a hard quota on how many small fish can be harvested from the population and still have the population rebuiild at the same time. Once the quota is filled close the small fish fishery. Give the fish a chance. The way it is now people just catch and catch the small fish and the quota never closes. It's insane.
