The Blackwater Nottoway Riverkeeper Program (BNRP) fully supports the listing the Atlantic Sturgeon. In the listing of where sturgeon are though for N.C. I noticed the Albemarle & Pamlico Sound nor the Chowan River was listed. If Sturgeon are in the Roanoke River they are also there. They possibly could even be in my two rivers the Blackwater and Nottoway in Va. These two rivers form the Chowan. My two rivers have had sturgeon for sure in them in the past as there are plenty of records to that fact. More studies need to be done to see if these fish are indeed coming back to the Chowan watershed and possibly be stocked in these waters to aid in there comeback.
