After being pushed out of the Gulf of Mexico commercial grouper fishing industry unless , like most of the little guys,I pay for commercial allications from the big guys. Once again I will have to buy allications, spend money I don't have, or go out of business. It is unfair to set a control date in which the southern demographic portion of Florida, due to warmer water tempatures, can fish year round, while in the Big Bend Area we have a seasonal run of Kingfish and Spanish Mackerel. As with the Snapper and Grouper the northern Gulf of Mexico due to the cold water temperatures and windy conditions is barely fishable for a good part of the year. Therefore as with the current IFQ, it is unfair for those in areas that can be fished year round for any species of fish to have MORE SHARES based on history when they have a demographic atvantage. I hope they are hireing 50 yr old ex-commercial fisherman as bagboys at Publix! I won't be able to make my morgage payment in a couple of months because I was conuting on the King and Spanish Mackerel run as soon as the water warms up. So I have 2 boats with all equipment, one truck and my sole for sale real cheap.
