widening and dredging of Port Everglades and Port of Miami, airport expansion and other development leading to more vehicle runoff into our marine ecosystem, corals being buried by beach "renourishment" operations, sewage carrying viruses, bacteria, and household chemicals from sewage found in south Florida's five "ocean outfall" pipes - and uneducated recreational divers walking over shallow reefs off the Florida Keys. Should also have mentioned new oil drilling off the north coast of Cuba only a short distance from the Florida Reef Tract. And all that in addition to sea temperature rise and acidification due to excess CO2 from burning fossil fuels.
?It's going to take more than listing under the Endangered Species Act to save our reefs! Thank you very much and please take the conservation and protection of the natural wonders of South Florida for posterity! Please do not be blinded by short-term gains over several years but put the best interest first for the next generations.
