I Commercial fished out of Mayport for several years way back in the late '70s, and understand the desire for high Commercial catch rates - quite simply it equates to money for the fishermen, however, I do not believe that 97% of the allowable catch should go to the Commercial interests. Fisherman to fisherman - Who spends more money that ends up being recycled back into the LOCAL economy?? I am firmly against any endeavor that ends up benefting others at Florida's expense. While I agree that our local fisheries Must be protected, there should be more of the allowable catch allocated to the recreational fisherman - They pay Local taxes, buy a license that directly benefits Florida, as well as support a whole range of other Local businesses. To me it is just common sense. While changes need to be made, we should make the decisions that will best help FLORIDA overall. Thanks for your consideration. K. G. W. Orange Park, Fl.
