Message to Rod McInnis, Regional Administrator, NMFS Southwest Regional office
Dear Mr. McInnis:
The American Tunaboat Association represents all of the U.S. flag Class 6 purse seiners operating in the Pacific Ocean. We have reviewed document RIN 0648-AY75 published in the Federal Register on September 3, 2010 titled: International Fisheries: Pacific Tuna Fisheries: Vessel Capacity Limit in the Purse Seine Fishery in the Eastern Pacific. We would like to add our full support for the procedures presented in the subject document. We believe that this proposal properly reflects the rights of the U.S. purse seine fleet and the U.S. government. The only suggestion we have is that the NMFS may want to review, or establish alternate procedures for the calculation of the cubic meters of capacity for purse seine vessels operating in the Eastern Pacific.
Sincerely,
Paul Krampe
Executive Director
American Tunaboat Association
