Regarding federal rule #0648-BA37, I request that you not short-change sportfishermen for the benefit of commercial fishermen. In Alaska, both Alaska residents and visitors from other locations benefit from the ability to catch halibut for their personal consumption. Reducing the daily catch limit to 1 fish will essentially eliminate the charter fishing fleet. I know personally I will not pay $150-$200 for the chance to catch 1 halibut. As the rules now stand, I can catch 2 fish. Reducing that number to 1 -- and giving the additional fish to the commercial fishery -- is a foolish decision.
Please reconsider for the benefit of all people, not just a few influential people in the commercial fishery industry.
