PLEASE!!!!! Support our CURRENT sportfishing halibut bag limit of 2 halibut, any size, per day, per guided angler in Southcentral Alaska!!!!! The proposed change would put many small businesses (including fishing guides) out of business, and make it too expensive for locals to go fishing for resources we have in our own state!!!! The commercial fishermen are going to hurt this state!!!! Commercial trawlers have bycatch, which results in far more dead halibut than the recreational catch. I am an Alaska resident for over 17 years and do not own a boat. The only way my husband and I can go halibut fishing is with a charter or with a friend....we cannot afford this if the bag limit drops to one a day!!! Tourism will drop if anglers can only catch one a day. Please do not change our bag limit!!!
