I think the way that the data is collected is an inacurate way of determining the recreational catch. The best way to manage the haddock stocks is by limiting the commercial catch. recreational catch volumes are insignificant compared to the commercial catch volumes. The economy has already reduced the number of recreational fisherman and the number of trips. You are doing major damage to the recreational fishing industry which employs a large number of folks when you take into account, boat builders and repairs, fishing gear marinas etc...the vast majority of recreational fishermen are very concious of the environment and strickly abide by current rules and regulations with little to no bycatch. this will only have a negative economic impact on the local economy. Based on the current administrations actions, I won't be shocked if this goes through and the economic impact is not considered.
