I am providing two pieces of scientific information pertaining to Sphyrna lewini that directly relate to this Petition:
1. Our recent publication on mitochondrial stock structure of Sphyrna lewini in the western Atlantic (PDF uploaded).
2. A note to mention that a cryptic hammerhead species resembling and sympatric with Sphyra lewini in the western north Atlantic also occurs in the western South Atlantic. A manuscript reporting this finding is currently in review in the journal Marine Biology.
